MOST BUSINESS PEOPLE think about ways to enhance the effectiveness of their marketing and sales. Richard Wilson obsesses about it. For him it is a lifelong passion. Over the past 31 years this fascination has driven him to successfully promote products from cutting-edge technology to worms.
With his extensive background in all phases of marketing and advertising both technology and non-technology products, Richard has created advertising, public relations, direct mail, and sales-support programs for major companies such as Merisel, Anthem Electronics, and Charles Schwab. He directed research projects for such clients as Zilog, Varian Associates, Hewlett-Packard, and US Instrument Rentals.
He brings a unique understanding to both start-up and established companies, having worked successfully with both executives and entrepreneurs.
In addition to his extensive background in business-to-business marketing, he has a broad understanding of the consumer market gained from his years in broadcasting.
While working on his college degree, Richard was responsible for sales and on-air listener promotions for KEZR in San José. One of the youngest promotions directors for a major station on the West Coast, he developed programs for Coca-Cola, California Milk Advisory Board, Wienerschnitzel Restaurants, San José Earthquakes, Marine World/Africa USA, and José Cuervo Tequila.
Richard has gone on to help produce events for San Francisco 49ers Entertainment, World Cup Soccer, Women's World-Cup Soccer, East-West Shrine Game, and the 100th Cal-Stanford Big Game as well as industry conferences and meetings.
Understanding, distilling, and effectively communicating are skills at which Richard has excelled throughout his professional life. These came into sharp focus as the Executive Producer of the Leaders of the New Century Project that interviewed 200 leaders of top-performing organizations in business, the arts, sports and the community.
Richard is co-author of 16 audiobooks/DVDs with NPBI, including; The Day I Blew Up The Factory - One on One with Jack Welch, The Leaders of the New Century Series, and Women on Leadership.
He is the coauthor of The Fundamentals of Maximum Impact Marketing.
Always feeling that people have a responsibility to actively contribute to their community, Richard was asked to join Executive Board of Directors for Junior Achievement of Santa Clara County. By nature a “hands-on” person, he spent five years volunteering to teach junior high school students about the free enterprise system.
He served as the publicity chairman for the Santa Clara County Business Hall of Fame at its inception and during the first four years of its existence. He was a founding member of the Board of Directors for Narconon of Northern California, a drug rehabilitation center.
He currently serves as the chairman of El Dorado Musical Theatre, a non-profit group that has rapidly grown to be one of the largest youth theaters on the West Coast.
Richard lives with his wife and two sons in Northern California.
